On 2022 July 2nd, the Advisory Board of Flare of Light held today its 3nd annual meeting.

The Advisory Board established on 2020 October 31st in accordance with its bylaws as the organization’s permanent independent board is composed of five renowned personalities with high academic backgrounds and vast pools of knowledge and experiences on national and international levels: Dr Beatrice Khamati Njenga, Vice-Chancellor. International Leadership University. Nairobi. Kenya; Dr Nicholas Kojo Alipui, Former Senior Scholar & Lecturer. Yale University. New Rochelle. NY. USA; Ludo Welffens, Social Science. Consultant. Abidjan. Côte d’Ivoire; Paryss C. Olivier Kouta, Founder and Managing Director of the African Centre for Capacity Building on Communication (AFCCBC)” Dakar. Senegal and Anne-Rache Inné, Regional Office Director of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The Advisory Board’s mission is to advise the Board of Directors on matters that directly concern the organization’s programs and fundraising efforts.

Professor Richard Metsger, an honorary member of FOL and an eminent university teacher in Boston Massachusetts took part in the meeting as observer. Nesida Hakim Belembaogo, Founder, President and CEO of Flare of Light welcomed all members present:

We are blessed to see the achievements we have accomplished’’, he said, expressing his pride in the efforts made by our global team, the national team led by Mr. Théophane Nikyema and the Advisory Board led by Mr. Paryss Kouta. “. “We have been able to translate into action and strategy the previous recommendations made by the Advisory Board and we remain open to your advice to excel even more,” he stressed. He then introduced Professor Metzger saying ‘’he has been more than a mentor to me. He has influenced my personal and professional life. With Professor Metzger, I learned the power of dreaming to achieve what it is not possible.

The Advisory Board discussed mainly key challenges and the progress made in implementing specifically the country program in Burkina Faso. Members of the Advisory Board highly commended the efforts made and the achievements, including improvement of the lives of several youth and, establishing the basis for greater impact through strategic structures and partnerships. The suggestions made shall guide further successful implementation of the 2022 Plan of Action and beyond. A particular attention is paid on local resource mobilization, human rights, citizenship and gender sessions newly integrated in 2 training program for young entrepreneurs targeting the most vulnerable young people particularly young women head of family and or with children as well as on accompanying the trainees according to their needs (mentorship, guidance for access to financial resources, marketing support….etc)

Paryss C Olivier Kouta, President of the Advisory Board closed the meeting
by congratulating the team for integrating human rights, citizenship and gender in training
targeting young entrepreneurs as a relevant innovation. He also wished to underline on
one hand the importance to contextualize its application within the specific context of
each country and on the other hand to make much more visible the follow-up and support
being provided to youth
