FLARE OF LIGHT POLICY POSITION On Zero Tolerance to Violence against Women and Girls.
The rights of women and girls are integral part of the human rights. Gender equality means that women and men, young people and young women, girls and boys all enjoy the same rights, resources, opportunities and protection without any kind of discrimination. Violence against women and girls is a grave violation of human rights, women’s rights, youth and children’s rights. The immediate and long-term physical and mental consequences for women and girls can be devastating. Violence negatively affects their well-being and prevents them from participating as full citizens in society. It impacts their families, their community and the country at large socially and economically.
Flare of Light aims to develop a community of young men and women entrepreneurs whose role is to act as technology catalysts, providing innovative solutions to transform their local communities and contribute to end intergenerational poverty and youth unemployment. FOL’s goal is that these young men and women mentored by its programs can succeed and become competitive on a regional and even global scale. Flare of Light, a recognized expertise in the areas of capacity building and mentoring of disadvantaged young entrepreneurs, help them to create or sustain their business, while promoting gender equality and women empowerment to protect themselves from all kinds of violence. The objective is to help them make their dream come true so that they can move forward in their business career and their life in their community and society.
Our work is guided by the Principles and Values of knowledge sharing and Professionalism, Responsibility and Accountability, Human Rights, Ethics and Gender Equality, Respect and Transparency and Youth Participation. We promote women and young people particularly girls’ participation in our governance, project activities and partnership strategy. Women and girls count for more than half in our program. Our goal is to progressively increase the gender quota. Local communication channels including in ethnic languages are used to reach those women and girls in rural areas.
Flare of Light policy on Zero Tolerance to violence against women and girls helps reaching the global and regional goals of achieving gender equality for all women and girls everywhere and in all situations. This policy applies to all our leaders, professionals, recruited personal and volunteers as well as our partners, collaborators and program beneficiaries.
This policy position is officially adopted by Flare of Light Board of Directors on 2021 July 1st in support of the Bylaws-Article 1.03 of its Policy on Non-Discrimination of any kind.
